We, Rita and Glyn Hughes, decided to build our family-run chalet in Morzine after first visiting the village 17 years ago and falling in love with its natural beauty and charm. We had an idea it might be a marvelous location for weekend ski breaks.
As experienced skiers we have travelled all over the world pursuing our passion, but Portes du Soleil has a unique quality and variety of slopes which makes you come back again and again.
After returning to Morzine each year and finally building our chalet in the village 12 years ago, we made an important decision to move here permanently and would like to invite you to spend a ski weekend or week with us (one bedroom in the chalet is designated for our own personal use).
We mix Russian charm with a twist of Welsh humour and have an easy-going attitude to life. We met in Moscow in 1996 while Glyn was setting up a media company. However, Glyn’s heart has always belonged on the slopes. He is now a level 2 BASI qualified ski instructor with teaching experience in both Switzerland and Italy.
We have a fun-loving teenage son Alex who attends the local French college, enjoys skiing, and is only too happy to have swapped the noisy, polluted big cities we have lived in for the tranquil Alpine life. He’ll also be happy to show you around the vast ‘Portes du Soleil’ area during your weekend ski visit.
